The narrator weaves personal observation with scientific knowledge to unpack recent political events and argues for a broad perspective on diversity. The reader imagines the planet as an ensouled body soaked in a wet film that inhales and exhales like a living organism. Meandering stories reminisce on similar patterns in cryonics, meditation, the origins of the Internet, protests, US elections, and algae blooms all describing a world out of balance.
